Kachemak Bay is located on the southwestern
end of the Kenai Peninsula and has been called “a microcosm of
Alaska. It is a land of incomparable beauty, a country of contrasts,
where the landforms have been upthrust by mountain building, worn down
by glaciers, violently shaken by earthquakes, gently etched by wind
and water, and dusted occasionally with volcanic ash” (from A
History of Kachemak Bay by Janet Klein).
Homer is located on the north shore of
Kachemak Bay. The 225 mile drive from Anchorage is one of the most scenic
road trips in Alaska. In Homer sportsmen will enjoy the excellent halibut
and salmon fishing. Others may browse through shops enjoying the work
of local artists and craftsmen, or travel the high roads photographing
the spectacular scenery.
The
Bay View Inn is located next to the well known scenic photographic
viewpoint at the top of the hill as you enter Homer. From our breathtaking
vantage point it is only a few minutes drive to downtown shops, galleries,
and the boat harbor on the Homer Spit. We invite you to check out our
"good old-fashioned service", reasonable rates and immaculately
clean rooms.
Continental breakfast in a serene setting with charming Alaskan
ambiance.
